Frequently Asked Questions for Nonprofits Organizations

What is North Platte Giving Day?
North Platte Giving Day is a 24-hour online fundraising event during which people can help favorite community causes in North Platte and Lincoln County, Nebraska.  North Platte Giving Day is hosted by Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation, a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) charitable organization.


When is North Platte Giving Day?
Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from midnight to midnight CT

 

What organizations are eligible for North Platte Giving Day?
Any 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in good standing with the IRS may participate in North Platte Giving Day if it is located and provides services other than religious in North Platte or Lincoln County, Nebraska.  

 

When is the deadline for nonprofit organizations to register to participate in North Platte Giving Day?
Any eligible nonprofit organization can register to participate anytime before 5 pm, Friday, March 15, 2018, at www.NorthPlatteGivingDay.org   If registration information indicates that a nonprofit organization qualifies to participate, that organization will be sent an email advising of approval to participate.

The email advising an organization of approval to participate will contain instructions and a link to that organization's page on the Giving Day portal so that profile of the organization can be completed and additional content submitted.  This is an opportunity to use words, photos and YouTube videos to tell the world about the important things each nonprofit is doing.  Each participating nonprofit needs to complete their profile by 5 pm, Friday, March 30, 2018.  Each participating nonprofit will receive an email advising when the nonprofit profile has been approved.

 

Do nonprofits pay to be part of North Platte Giving Day?
No.  Nonprofit organizations do not pay to participate in North Platte Giving Day.

 

How much of the donation will go to the nonprofit?
Participating nonprofit organizations will receive the full value of each donation.  Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation and an anonymous donor are covering all transaction processing and credit card fees. 

 

When will my nonprofit receive our donations?
Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation will make payments to each nonprofit organization in four to six weeks following Giving Day after all transactions are verified and accounting has been finished.


May nonprofits provide something of value in exchange for a donation?
Nonprofits may not provide or promise good or services in exchange for a donation on North Platte Giving Day.


May non-profit organizations win Giving Day prizes?
Participating non-profit organizations may win prizes based on the number of gifts and timing of those gifts.  In the competition for prizes, participating nonprofit organizations are prohibited from contributing to themselves.


Will result totals be made public?
Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation will publish the results of North Platte Giving Day on the website, in the form of a list of total amounts and numbers of donations received by each participating organization.  Information about individual donors will not be made public by Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation.  


Are there any representations made about non-profit organizations?
Beyond providing a service to help charitable people make donations and disbursing funds to designated nonprofit organizations, Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation makes no warranties, claims or representations pertaining to the effectiveness of any participating nonprofit organization, nor to the amount of money any nonprofit may raise.  


Is Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation participating in Giving Day?
A limited number of funds that are administered by Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation will participate as nonprofit causes and will be eligible to receive Giving Day donations.  These funds include: North Platte Public Library Foundation Fund, Brady School Foundation Fund and Sutherland Anchor Memorial Park Fund to name a few examples.
