What is North Platte Giving Day?
North Platte Giving Day is a 24-hour online fundraising event during which people can help favorite community causes in North Platte and Lincoln County, Nebraska.  North Platte Giving Day is hosted by Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation, a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

Giving

Who can donate?
Anyone with a credit card or debit card and access to the internet can participate.  Also, donors may drop off checks at Giving Sites.

 

What cards are accepted online?
MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express donations are accepted through the website.

 

Where are the Giving Sites in North Platte for donation checks on Giving Day?
Catholic Schools Endowment Trust, 601 S Tabor Av (8 am to 4 pm), Prairie Arts Center, 416 N Jeffers St (9 am to 6:30 pm), Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation, 121 N Dewey St-Suite 112 (9 am to 5 pm), Senior Center/RSVP, 900 E Tenth St (8 am to 4 pm), U-Save Pharmacy, 211 W Leota St (9 am to 8 pm).

 

Is there a minimum gift?  Maximum gift?  More than one gift?
The minimum donation accepted is $20 to any of the participating community nonprofit organizations or causes.  There is no maximum gift.  You may donate to as many participating nonprofit organizations as you wish.

 

Are donations tax deductible?
Donations are tax deductible as charitable contributions to the fullest extent allowed by law.


How will I be recognized as a Donor?
You will receive an immediate thank you and tax receipt from Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation for an online donation.  If you donate by check, you will receive a thank you and tax receipt later in May.  Unless anonymity is requested, most nonprofit organizations also will thank you for making a donation to help them.


How will online donations be reported on my credit card statement?
Your credit card statement will read: Mid-Neb Community Foundation. 

 

May I designate how a nonprofit uses my gift?
Each Giving Day gift is considered an unrestricted charitable contribution and will be disbursed to the nonprofit organization or cause that you specify.  As charitable contributions, no goods or services may be received by donor in exchange for donations.

 

How much of the donation will go to the nonprofit?
Participating nonprofit organizations will receive the full value of each donation.  Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation and an anonymous donor are covering all transaction processing and credit card fees.  

 

Can I make my donation over the phone?
You may contribute over the phone if your “Smart” phone allows you to make a credit card donation online. 


Is my donation tax-deductible? How do I get a copy of my receipt?
All donations are fully tax deductible and irrevocable donations to Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, that will disburse donations to the nonprofit organizations specified by donors.

Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation will provide an electronic receipt at the time of each online donation via email. The e-mail you receive is a record of donation for income purposes.  You may want to print out a copy of your email receipt for your income files.

 

What if I can't find my favorite nonprofit on the website?
If you can't find your favorite nonprofit on our website, they may not be participating currently. 


How are North Platte Giving Day donations made online processed?
Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation is partnering with its Giving Day online technology partner, CiviCore, and credit card payment processors to handle the transacting and processing of funds donated through the NorthPlatteGivingDay.org website. 


Is my donation safe and secure?
The NorthPlatteGivingDay.org website is powered by CiviCore and is a secure PCI-Level 1 compliant site for donating to your favorite charities.


When will a charity receive my donation?
Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation will make payments to each nonprofit organization in four to six weeks following Giving Day after all transactions have been verified and accounting has been finished.


Will my specified nonprofit organization get information about me?
Unless anonymity is specifically requested, donation amounts and donor information will be forwarded to specified nonprofit organizations and your name may appear in the organization's print and electronic donor listings.  Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation does not retain credit card information and your personal data will not be shared with or sold to any outside vendors or third parties.  Your information will only be shared with the organization(s) you specified to receive your donation and will not be shared with other organizations participating in North Platte Giving Day.

Nonprofit Organizations

What organizations are eligible for North Platte Giving Day?
Any 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in good standing with the IRS may participate in North Platte Giving Day if it is located and provides services other than religious in North Platte or Lincoln County, Nebraska.  

 

When is the deadline for nonprofit organizations to register to participate in North Platte Giving Day?
Any eligible nonprofit organization can register to participate anytime before 5 pm, Friday, March 24, 2017, at www.NorthPlatteGivingDay.org   If registration information indicates that a nonprofit organization qualifies to participate, that organization will be sent an email advising of approval to participate.

The email advising an organization of approval to participate will contain instructions and a link to that organization's page on the Giving Day portal so that profile of the organization can be completed and additional content submitted.  This is an opportunity to use words, photos and YouTube videos to tell the world about the important things each nonprofit is doing.  Each participating nonprofit needs to complete their profile by 5 pm, Friday, March 31, 2017.  Each participating nonprofit will receive an email advising when the nonprofit profile has been approved.

 

Do nonprofits pay to be part of North Platte Giving Day?
No.  Nonprofit organizations do not pay to participate in North Platte Giving Day.

 

How much of the donation will go to the nonprofit?

May nonprofits provide something of value in exchange for a donation?
Nonprofits may not provide or promise good or services in exchange for a donation on North Platte Giving Day.


May non-profit organizations win Giving Day prizes?
Participating non-profit organizations may win prizes based on number of gifts and timing of those gifts.  In the competition for prizes, participating nonprofit organizations are prohibited from contributing to themselves.


Will result totals be made public?
Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation will publish the results of North Platte Giving Day on the website, in the form of a list of total amounts and numbers of donations received by each participating organization.  Information about individual donors will not be made public by Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation.  


Are there any representations made about non-profit organizations?
Beyond providing a service to help charitable people make donations and disbursing funds to designated nonprofit organizations, Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation makes no warranties, claims or representations pertaining to the effectiveness of any participating nonprofit organization, nor to the amount of money any nonprofit may raise.  


Is Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation participating in Giving Day?
A limited number of funds that are administered by Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation will participate as nonprofit causes and will be eligible to receive Giving Day donations.  These funds include: North Platte Public Library Foundation Fund, Brady School Foundation Fund and Sutherland Anchor Memorial Park Fund to name a few examples.
