The Boy Scouts of America has been in existance since 1910 and a council or district has been in existance in North Platte since 1919. During that time thousands of young men have had the opportunity to learn life skills in an outdoor environment. The Overland Trails Council maintains a camping facility near Lake Maloney in Lincoln County. In addition, we staff a retail Scout Shop and district headquarters for Lincoln County and surrounding area.

There are currently 521 young people registered in programs in the Buffalo Bill District. Those members range in age from 6-21.

As a part of the Scouting program, youth must provide hours of community service to various non-profit, church and public organizations. Food drives, conservation projects as well as community improvement projects contribute thousands of hours to our community each year.
